the girls

Girl 1 - Puppy number 1
Nickname: Spot

This was the smallest puppy, but she's growing fast. Like the black tricolour boy from last year's litter, this girl is named for the black spot on her right front white paw. Again, I really must try harder with these photos - but at least with so little detail in the shot you get a sense of how difficult it is to tell the puppies apart - here is yet another black tricolour puppy with white paws, tan face markings and a white chin!

Born: 9:22 am
Weight at birth: 285 g

Girl 2 - Puppy number 4
Nickname: Boots

The unmistakable one with the white boots and white tips at each end - nose and tail.

Born: 10:13 am
Weight at birth: 297 g

Girl 3 - Puppy number 6
Nickname: Cross

Named not because she's grumpy, of course not! But named for the white cross on her chest - just like her mum's. She was the biggest girl at birth, by a long way.

Born: 11 am
Weight at birth: 347 g

Girl 4 - Puppy number 7
Nickname: Flash - or Motor-ette

We thought she was the last one (we were wrong). Came out with all paws punching the air so named Motor-ette in honour of a certain puppy born in a similar way in the last litter. Since re-named Flash for her amazing tricolour markings. Doesn't she look like her brother Big Arrow?

Born: 11:15 am
Weight at birth: 300 g

Girl 5 - Puppy number 9
Nickname: LMP

LMP (or El Empy) stands for Little Miss Perfect for her wonderfully symmetrical tricolour markings - 4 white toes here, 4 there, tan leg here, tan leg there, white flash on chest. And not forgetting that Keskiyƶ-inspired little white chin & half-pink nose.

Born: 12:20 pm
Weight at birth: In all the excitement (or was that horror?) at the headcount of NINE, I forgot to weigh her!
