6 weeks old

Joulu is 6 weeks old already.  He is getting little trips out of the house, plays serious bitey face with his mum and has an adorable new little harness to start to slowly get used to.  I'm guessing he'll grow out of it long before he gets to use it out in the world.

"I know I'm impossibly cute, but is this really necessary, hoomans?"

6 weeks old

The puppies are 6 weeks old, and as usual, here they are with their new names.  As always, all the names are subject to KC approval.

These puppies have been so well behaved and quiet - it's most unusual for a litter of Lappies.  Because of the weirdness of Coronavirus and the self-isolating I've been doing for almost 2 weeks now, these puppies have not been getting anything like the normal socialisation regime that Infindigo puppies usually get.  Still, they're confident and outgoing little tykes, taking in all the experience that we can give them without actually having people in the house or taking the puppies into town.

As you might expect from their parents, the puppies' coats are amazing.  Looking at these photos, I think I'm going to have to start using the adult brush on them, as the puppy brush just isn't cutting it anymore.

How cute are the sitting shots!  Luckily they are, as most of the standing ones are, well, not great.  But then you get the absolute natural posers like Neot/Nalle and Trever/Taika!

Neot
To be called Infindigo Onnekas Nalle
Nalle is a Finnish word for bear - very fitting, we think, for the most teddybear-like of puppies!

Penny
To be called Infindigo Onnekas Penni
Penni is the Finnish form of the word "penny"

Fowey
To be called Infindigo Onnekas Ruskka (Ruska)
Ruska is a Finnish word meaning autumn colours, but I added an additional, unnecessary K to the registered name because Ruska wasn't accepted by the KC

Trever
To be called Infindigo Onnekas Taikuri (Taika)
Taikuri is a Finnish word meaning magician and Taika means magic
You can follow Taika on Instagram @taikuri_the_lapphund

Kensey
To be called Infindigo Onnekas Maki
Maki is a Finnish boy's name

Ottery
To be called Infindigo Onnekas Kielo (Lily)
Kielo is the Finnish word for lily of the valley flower

6 weeks old

It wasn't easy getting photos today.  For one thing, it's always hard!  I know, I make it look easy, right?  Riiiight...

Leggo of my tail!

But, as you see, it's not easy, not ever.  Well, almost not ever.  Puppies run, wiggle, jump, bite and generally mess about.  Posing safely on a table?  That's definitely not in their standard repertoire.

For another thing, it was 27°C this afternoon when we were trying to get these shots.  What do you suppose Finnish Lapphund puppies think about that kind of temperature?  Even when they're in the shade and there is a nice breeze?  And remembering that these puppies' absolute favorite thing ever is the frozen water bottle.  Exactly.

But we persevered, as we do on a weekly basis, dedicated as we are.  I was wishing I had put my shorts on before starting, though.  Luckily there are only 3 of them to contend with, so it all took only about one and a half hours 30 minutes.  Ish.

Patty

Is this my good side?

LaVerne

If I flap my ears, do you suppose I'll fly?

Maxene

It's not so bad, this bottom brushing

Their ears are all going up already.  In fact, LaVerne looks like hers will be almost completely up before she even leaves here.  Such cooperative ears are not completely unheard of in this house, but it is still a bit of a novelty.

Next week they will have their new names and be getting ready for the next big adventure.  Assuming I find the time to get the puppy packs together in the next fortnight, that is.

6 weeks old

Emmi has gone home and the puppies are left to fend for themselves ... well, with a bit of help in the form of meals and cleanup from the humans and playtime from Tuuli and from Anni, who is visiting.  If anyone is thinking of asking me to take care of dogs while there are 5-or-6-week-old puppies in the house again, don't.  I don't mind one bit having 12 dogs in the house at once.  Truly.  But I dare say my neighbours are not quite so keen and even Jay is less certain.  Perhaps because I disappear off to work a few days a week leaving him to try to work and take care of 12 dogs.  Whoops!

Suffice to say it has been fun.  Of a sort.

At last the puppies know where they will be going to live, and the new puppy owners know which puppy will be theirs.  We even have names!  As always, the names are subject to Kennel Club approval.

I was pleased the weather cooperated today so that we could get some good outdoor photos.  If you're wondering what I'm bribing them with to get them to stand so nicely, it's slivers of mature cheddar - the puppies' first taste of cheese.  As you can see, they approve.

Infindigo Lintu Joki

Was Woody, will be called Joki (pronounced Yokey), Finnish for "river"

Infindigo Lintu Nukka

Was Robin, will be called Nukka (pronounced Noo-kah), Finnish for "jumper fluff" - yes, it's true, that this puppy will be called Lintu Lint!  It amuses me inordinately.

Infindigo Lintu Valo

Was Raven, will be called Valo (pronounced Vah-loh), Finnish for "light".

Infindigo Lintu Henkka

Was Rook, will be called Henkka, which is the name of the bass player in the Finnish band "Children of Bodom".

 Infindigo Lintu Xxxx

Still Buzz, as we don't have his new name just yet

Infindigo Lintu Matias

Was Puffin, will be called something else as yet undecided.

Infindigo Lintu Miika

Was Merlin, will be called Miika (pronounced Mee-kah), which is a Finnish boy's name and the name of his mum, Emmi's, big brother at home.

We have names for most of the puppies now, but not quite all, so they will come next week.  This week we have sitting and standing pics - ta-da!
