2 weeks old

Here is one very cute polar bear cub Finnish Lapphund puppy at 2 weeks old.  Eyes open, starting to try to get on his feet and walk, looking for his toys/siblings.  He's 870 grams now, so developing well.  He had one rear dew claw on the right but John & Anna were lucky enough to be able to find a vet who was willing to remove it when he was 5 days old.  The little wound from that procedure is all healed now and we don't need to worry about it being damaged when he's older and haring around the woods in the way that we know they do when they have the opportunity.

2 weeks old

In haste because I'm quite tired tonight (and who thought it would be a good idea for me to do these weekly updates on Tuesday nights, anyway?)

The puppies' eyes are all now open, or at least just starting to open.  Now that they can see each other, they are getting funny, heaving themselves to their feet, trying to play and practicing their growling and barking.

Next week I promise to try and get sharp photos!

2 weeks old

While I'm stomping around the Isle of Skye, Jay is taking care of the puppies and getting their 2-week portraits.  And doing a fine old job of it too.  He's also getting to do 2 days of worming, which I did day 1 of before I left.  It's never a fun job, so I'm doubly grateful.

The puppies are 2 weeks old now, their eyes are open and they are starting to play.  As soon as I get back I will start them on solid food.  It all happens so fast!

2 weeks old

The puppies are 2 weeks old today and most of them have opened their eyes now - just Robin and Buzz are lagging behind but I have no doubt they will be open in a day or two.  They are all good weights and had their first worming experience today, poor little mites!

Emmi is thinking it's high time they all moved downstairs so that she doesn't have to keep running up and down, but she doesn't really mind as long as the food keeps coming.  She's on 4 large meals a day and is enjoying a variety of things.

second week

Yesterday, at 11 days old, 2 of the puppies started to open their eyes.  Etta was first, shortly followed by Louis.  This morning Ella has joined them, and I expect by tonight we might have one or two more.

Once their eyes open the playing starts and then things really start to get cute.
