welcome pohjoinen joulu

Quick holiday announcement of the latest addition to the Infindigo clan who arrived last week.  Joulu was born 3 days early and mum Suvi made incredibly easy work of it.  We hardly knew he was on the way before she popped him out, luckily for Anna who was all alone on midwife duties at the time.

The Onnekas puppies turned a week old this morning.  They have all more than doubled their weight and are starting to really motor around the box.  I really must try to get a good video of that.  In another week they will be opening their eyes.

The Sisko puppies are one week old already.  They are crawling around the whelping box on their bellies and I really don't know how long it will take them to hoist themselves up onto their feet because with those big, round bellies it will take quite a bit of muscle power!  The last time we had only 3 puppies, I do believe I said the very same thing.  So little competition at the milk bar means well-fed pups.

And this bunch are even heavier than the Taysikuu trio.

I'm calling it - LaVerne is definitely black & tan.

Good morning from us.  I have an unusual Thursday off work this week, so the puppy photos are up earlier than they are likely to be in subsequent weeks.

After a week of analysing, pondering and prodding, I can now confidently say that both Raven and Rook are wolf sable, not black & tan.  The jury is still out on Woody & Robin.  They both have wolf sable tendencies, but I think we can safely call them both brown & tan (or brown, tan & white, as they will be).  Let's just say they are on the spectrum.

If you are following on the Facebook Infindigo Finnish Lapphunds group, or on Instagram, then you will have seen that I have been toying with the idea of changing the name of this litter from Kuume to Raita.  Well, I'm going to do it (Kennel Club permitting, as always.)

"Raita", pronounced approximately "right-ah" is the Finnish word for "stripe" and when these puppies lay themselves out in a row, as tiny puppies are wont to do, then they look like nothing more than a row of stripes in shades of cream, brown & black.  Pretty cute.

Although they don't officially turn 1 week old until tonight, I'll be switching to morning weighings and photos from here on in.  So, here are the Raita puppies on the morning of their one-week birthday.  They're looking a little bit more like puppies and a little bit less like mice now.  By next week's portraits they will have started opening their eyes.
